Interaction designers have an important ethical responsibility to protect users when working with AI, because AI systems can easily influence people without them noticing. Designers should make AI honest, easy to understand, and respectful of users’ choices—meaning no tricks, no hidden data use, and no pretending to be human. They also need to make sure the AI is safe, fair, and does not harm certain groups or create false trust. I think designers should always ask themselves whether the AI feature truly helps the user, or just benefits the company, and whether it might cause problems in the future, like making people too dependent on automation. Good interaction design with AI should support people’s autonomy, encourage healthy skepticism, and make technology feel helpful—not creepy or manipulative.
